Terms of use of GenePaws

1. What GenePaws is

GenePaws is a digital service for genetic information about animals. The service can register information on several animal species, while the laboratory offer has not been opened. Planned functions include breed calculation, health markers, characteristics, comparison of breeding animals, pedigree information and a genetic results overview. Which functions are actually available for a particular test must be stated before ordering.

GenePaws is an information and guidance tool. The results are statistical calculations and genetic results, not a veterinary medical diagnosis and not an official registration with NKK/NRR or other stud book keeping organisations. Look Disclaimer for what this means in practice.

2. Account

• You must be adult (18 years) to create an account and place an order.
• You are responsible for the correctness of the information you provide and for keeping your login details confidential.
• You are responsible for activity on your account. If you discover abuse, contact us.

3. The sample and the analysis

• You must take the test in line with the instructions in the kit, and only from the animal you yourself own or have the right to test.
• You warrant that you have the right to submit the sample and the information about the animal.
• Incorrect sampling, contaminated or too little material can mean that the sample must be taken again. If the analysis cannot be carried out, we will let you know which options apply to the order.

4. Acceptable Use

You shall not:

• use the service for illegal purposes or in violation of third party rights,
• submit a human sample or attempt to use the Service to analyze human DNA,
• attempt to circumvent security, copy, scrape or replicate the Service, or
• use the results to mislead buyers of animals (e.g. presenting an indicative calculation as an official guarantee).

5. Prices, payment and delivery

The price, contents, shipping and expected analysis time must be stated for each test before ordering opens. Prices are in Norwegian kroner, including VAT. Planned packages are not active offers. Results become available digitally when the agreed analysis is complete.

6. Intellectual property rights

The service, text, design and analysis methodology belong to GenePaws. You retain the rights to the information about you and your animal, and grant us a limited right to process it to provide the Service, as described in Privacy.

7. Changes and termination

We may update the terms; significant changes are notified in a reasonable manner. You can close your account at any time. We can close an account in case of material or repeated breach of the terms.

8. Consumer rights, choice of law and disputes

Nothing in these terms restricts the inalienable rights you have as a consumer under Consumer Purchase Act and the right of withdrawal act . The agreement is governed by Norwegian law. Disputes may be brought before The Consumer Protection Board / The Consumer Complaint Committee or the ordinary courts with jurisdiction Oslo district court.
